“Our motto is ‘Helping you to help others,’” Pastor Dennis Herndon said, noting that he plans to donate proceeds to local food banks. Prices on store items are marked with a “minimum suggested donation,” but customers are welcome to donate more toward the ministry, which will mean more for local food charities. “Instead of sending it overseas for missionaries, I wanted to keep the money local,” Herndon said. Herndon said the opportunity to establish the resale shop came about when the members of the Immanuel Baptist Church, formerly located in a building on Fort Street, had to decide whether to continue or disband the small and aging congregation.
