Hiatt Lake is a cutoff portion of the Sacramento River in Kirkville. It is the northernmost of a group of four such lakes; the others (listed from north to south) are Collins Eddy, Horseshoe Lake, and Mystic Lake. Hiatt Lake and Mystic Lake are quite shallow and largely dry up each summer, but Collins Eddy and Horseshoe Lake are deeper.

Hiatt Lake has also occasionally been referred to as Kirk Lake.1
