The Trainer Hills are a range of very low hills just west of the Browns Valley Ridge, southwest of Iowa City. Their highest elevation is only 144 feet,1 and their prominence above the surrounding countryside is about 60 feet. They are named for the fact that they are the first hint of the transition from the Sacramento Valley to the Sierra Nevada foothills, which begin at the Browns Valley Ridge.
