Station 220 is a local restaurant that is located on East Front Street in Bloomington. The history of the café dates back all the way to the 1900's. During this time there was a fire that occurred at a downtown laundry shop. The fire was so big that firefighters from Peoria and Springfield were called to help. Fire engines were brought in by train from Springfield. Because of the fire, the city brought the best hook-and-ladder team they could find. But after they brought the team, the city realized that they would not fit in the station’s bay doors. So, the city built a new fire station in 1902 called the Central Fire Station. This would be the location for the main fire station in Bloomington until 1974. After the building was vacant for a couple of years, it was remodeled into a restaurant. The design of the restaurant is the same as the fire station. The engine stalls are the main dining room, the horses is now the kitchen, and the firemen’s quarters was made into a banquet room and martini lounge. There are a variety of items to select on the menu.
