TUTORING FOR ADULTS, MATURE LEARNERS, AND SENIORS

Mike Wilson currently teaches computer classes at the Canton library and has been an instructor in many institutions and senior centers, and has trained hundreds of learners, including ESL students, from about 10 cities in Michigan.

Mike is an author of two computer basics books: "Answers to Beginners' Computer Questions" and "Microsoft Word 2007 Made So Easy." He has also authored a basic computer book for HFCC and Michigan Works No Worker Left Behind Program.

Mike is committed to tutoring adults and seniors in all the many wonderful things computers can do. He brings a laptop to the learners and will meet them at any library. The instructor is making a difference in the lives of those who don’t feel comfortable in traditional computer settings. Learners have a choice of over 25 beginning, intermediate, and advanced tutoring sessions. The sessions cover practical instruction for everyday uses. Students learn computer basics, enjoy playing games, create envelopes and labels, understand how to use e-mail and explore websites on the Internet. Many have gained skills in using their digital camera, organizing pictures and folders, and doing required basic computer maintenance. Others have fun with graphic features by designing greeting cards and learn to edit and manipulate pictures.

Instruction is not just for personal use, but those who are going back to work can also receive one-to-one training in different skill levels in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
