Municipal internet is the deployment of internet access to the residents of a community, funded and managed partially or entirely by the local government.  These networks are typically created to address the shortcomings in the current internet service provider model, the lack of connectivity for citizens, or other various reasons.  Currently, Chico does not have any municipal broadband or WiFi, but there is a growing interest.

An infant organization gathering data on the state of the local network infrastructure of Chico, with monthly meetings open to the public every second Sunday at the Faith Lutheran Church.
