The Planning Commission is a commission of the City of Chico, appointed by the City Council.

The Planning Commission prepares and recommends for adoption by the Council a comprehensive, long-term General Plan, or amendments thereto, for the physical development of the City and of any land outside its boundaries which, in the commission’s judgment, bears relation to the physical development of the City; and to include such elements in the general plan as recommended by the commission or required by the planning law of the state. It prepares and recommends to Council precise plans for implementation of the general plan. It performs duties in reference to zoning and subdivision matters as authorized by the Chico Municipal Code or state laws. It also performs other duties prescribed by the Council pertaining to planning. (CMC Sec. 2.52.020)
