The Seal of the City of Chico is a design which is embossed or otherwise attached to official documents of the City of Chico. The design dates from 1872 when the city was founded.

The seal features General John Bidwell in the center. The city nickname "City of Roses" is also featured. Bidwell nicknamed Chico "City of Roses" because of its many rose varieties which he introduced. It is interesting to note that many people erroneously claim that the city's nickname is "City of Trees."
