The community of Chico is known for its greenery and is home to many trees — in fact, the City of Chico calls itself an Urban Forest and has an Urban Forest Manager. That said, the city of roses is home to some noteworthy trees such as the following:

• Hooker Oak tree
• Jones-Starmer Tree
• Monkey Puzzle Tree
• Paul DiGirolamo Tree
• Richard James Dyer Memorial Tree
• Travis Williams tree
• Tree of Peace

In addition, there is the Holiday Tree Lighting that takes place downtown every year. They light one of the two trees that remained after redeveloping the city plaza.
