The Chicopee Public Library has served the city since 1853, being the first library in Western Massachusetts to be supported by public tax funds. Besides offering books and other media to loan for Chicopee residents, it also houses a variety of other resources both on and off its two buildings.

The main location, the Emily L. Partyka Main Library, is located at 449 Front Street in Chicopee Center. Another branch is located at 402 Britton Street in Fairview. Additionally, a Bookmobile tours select locations throughout the city Monday through Thursday.
