Barbara Rice, a daughter of Gail Rogers Rice and G. Carver Rice, was elected to the Franklin County Legislature in 2013 and was re-elected in 2016. She was the first woman to chair the Franklin County Legislature.
She graduated from Saranac Lake High School and went on to receive her BA from SUNY Plattsburgh in Business and Economics. She later attended Albany Medical College and worked as a Physician Assistant in Vermont and Massachusetts.
She has been named to head the Adirondack Park Agency as executive director by Gov. Kathy Hochul.
