Robert Stringer played for the Saranac Lake Chiefs in the 1950s, and worked at Casier Furniture. He was a World War II veteran.

He lived at 14 Park Place and later at 6 Keene Street.

Robert Stringer

SARANAC LAKE — Robert Stringer, 49, 6 Keene Street, a resident of this community since 1948, died Saturday in the Saranac Lake General Hospital.

He was born in Hopedale, Ohio the son of Wallace B. and Harriet Baldwin Stringer. He was an appliance salesperson for 15 years and an employee at North Country Community College.

Mr. Stringer was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Coprs.

Survivors include his wife, the former June LaVarnway of Saranac Lake; two sons, Richard in New Orleans and Lawrence of Saranac Lake; three daughters, Peggy, Linda and Nancy of Saranac Lake; two brothers, Richard of Saranac Lake and Jack in Ohio and two sisters, Jo-Ann MiddIeton in Ohio and Dorothy Toft in California.
