SARANAC LAKE - Carl J. Ryan, 83, of Saranac Lake died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998 at his home.
Born May 24, 1915 in Saranac Inn, he was the son of John and Mimi Ryan.
Mr. Ryan was a graduate of Saranac Lake High School and was captain of the Redskins football team in 1931 and 1932. He was also an avid golfer. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater. He had been employed by Adirondack Bottled Gas for 30 years, retiring as district manager in 1978 until he returned to Saranac Lake in May of this year.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ryan of Saranac Lake; a son, Gary Ryan of Bloomingdale; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one nephew and one niece.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard's Church, with the Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.
