Edgar R. Harley

SUMMIT, N.J. - Edgar R. Harley of Summit, N.J. and Saranac Lake, died Aug. 8 1999 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J.

He was born in New York City.

Mr. Harley graduated from Pennsylvania State College, in 1948 with a B.S. in mathematics and earned a graduate degree in mathematical analysis and statistics at Penn State in 1949.

He was a veteran of World War II who served in the 274th U.S. Infantry. He was a unit leader and researcher with E.F. Hutton in New York City for 29 years, retiring in 1988. He then went on to work for Aztec Software Associates in Springfield, N.J.

Mr. Harley was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Summit, New York Ski Club, and the New Jersey Table Tennis Club. He had a lifelong enthusiasm for the Adirondacks and enjoyed the outdoors, boating, fishing and swimming.

Survivors include, his wife of 37 years, Marion (Jackson) Harley; a daughter, Linda Helgeson; two grandchildren, Andrew and Emily; and his mother Mary Harley of Summit.

He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Harley.
