Herbert John Clark was the son of Knollwood guide Herb Clark. He lived at 62 Algonquin Avenue.

Chuck Brumley says that Herbert J. Clark was listed as a Saranac Lake guide in a list of Registered Guides in New York State in 1942.

Herbert J. Clark

SARANAC LAKE - Herbert J. Clark, 86, formerly of Saranac. Lake, died Saturday, March 4, 1995 at the Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg.

Born May 3, 1908 in Saranac Lake, he was the son of Herbert and Mary (Dowdle) Clark.

A lifelong resident of Saranac Lake, Mr. Clark was a custodian at the United States Post Office here for many years. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Navy.

Survivors include two sisters, Irene Dimick of Buffalo and Gertrude Clark-Montville of Westport; two brothers, James Clark of Saranac Lake and Francis Clark of Baton Rouge, La.; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, George Clark, predeceased him.

There will be no calling hours. An interment service will take place in St. Bernard's Cemetery in May. Arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity in care of the funeral home.
