The Adirondack Collection of the Saranac Lake Free Library has an unidentified photograph of a handsome cottage, clearly a designed house, built of logs. As described on the page for William F. Roberts, the W. F. Roberts real estate company placed an ad in the Adirondack Enterprise on February 4, 1915, listing "a furnished log cabin on Franklin Avenue" in Saranac Lake for rent for $50 per month. It was unlike any other house in the village--more like a camp structure--and is no longer standing.  The specific location and address is unknown. Fifty dollars in 1915 is the equivalent of $1250 in 1918, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
