Loon Lake Golf Course

From Adirondack Golf Courses . . . Past and Present, by J. Peter Martin

. . . The Loon Lake course was one of the first to be built in the Adirondacks. It was patterned after the Scottish Links that were copied in this country during the latter half of the nineteenth century on the first of the golf courses in America. In 1926 a second nine were added. . . .

The sporty course, 5400 yards in length, the site of many tournaments and matches for the House, was a popular resort; and pros from all over the northeast came and played for considerable sums of money. . . .

Abandoned some years ago, the course is now in ruins, (written in 2021).
