Orme Caldara (born Frank Slocum) was a Broadway stage actor from 1904 to 1920 when his health forced him to retire from the stage. He had contracted tuberculosis and was treated in a sanatorium in Saranac Lake; he died of the disease there in 1925.

He often appeared with Jane Cowl in the theatre co-starring with her in several influential plays including Within the Law (1912–1913), Common Clay (1915–1916), Lilac Time (1917), and Smilin' Through (1919–1920). He appeared in one motion picture, The Spreading Dawn, also with Jane Cowl, in 1917. He was also a professional swimmer. He is buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Orme Caldara Dead; Buried at Saranac

Orme Caldara died at Trudeau Sanitarium, Saranac Lake, last Friday, at eight p. m. Funeral services were held in Saranac October 24. The Rev. E. Miller delivered a beautiful sermon. Interment was held at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Saranac Lake. The deceased was fifty years old and has no one surviving, his dear mother passed on shortly after his arrival here almost two years ago. Mr. Caldara was Jane Cowl's leading man for eleven years, and played in many Broadway successes. Jane Cowl and her husband, (Mr. and Mrs. Klauber) sent a beautiful floral piece and Mr. Klauber went up from N. Y. to take charge of the burial. Other floral pieces were sent by Mr. and Mrs. Silvio Hein, Robert Mayer, James S. O’Keefe and the members of the Thursday Evening Club of Trudeau. The theatrical profession was represented by Miss Dolly La Salle, Lillian Fitzgerald, Helen O’Reilly, May Janese, Joe Towle, Charles Bordley, Dave Seymour and Charles Church. Orme was loved by everybody at Saranac and they all mourn his loss.
