History

Wed 13 May 1908 - An area of severe storms moved across Anderson County during the evening.  A funnel cloud moved from the east side of the city to Neches, where it touched down and produced damage.  Very heavy rainfall caused the dams at the city water works plant (now Upper and Lower Lake) to be completely destroyed by heavy rainfall.  The employees and other individuals had to run for their lives to high ground as the wave of water swept downstream.  The city had to switch to the old reservoir (location unknown) during the night, and instituted a boil notice.
