The Amgen Tour of California is the largest "Tour de France" style cycling road race in America.  It challenges the world's top professional cycling teams to compete along a demanding 800+ mile, staged course.

2009 is the first year that Santa Cruz County was included to host a segment of the race.

2012 Monday, May 14, 2012 — Stage 2 finish: San Francisco to Santa Cruz - 117.1 miles. 

About 128 bicycle racers started in San Francisco around 8 am,  with the first riders reaching Santa Cruz County around 1 pm.  The finish line for this stage was held at Cabrillo Community College in Aptos.

 

2010
Tuesday, May 18, 2010 — Stage 3 finish: San Francisco to Santa Cruz - 113.3 miles.

 

Race starts at 11:15 am in San Francisco, with an estimated time for the first riders to reach Santa Cruz sometime after 3 pm.  The finish line for this stage was in front of the Boardwalk on Beach Street.

 

2009
Monday, February 16, 2009 — Stage 2: Sausalito to Santa Cruz - 115.9 miles.

Race starts at 8:30 am in Sausalito, with an estimated time for the first riders to reach the San Mateo/Santa Cruz County line to be sometime after 10 am.  The finish line for this stage was at intersection of Front Street and Cooper Street in Downtown Santa Cruz.
