Bel Air is a supermarket chain that was founded in 1955 in Sacramento and that merged in 1992 with Raley's, which was founded in 1935 in Placerville. The merged chain is headquartered in Sacramento and consists of 133 stores under the names Raley's, Bel Air Markets, Nob Hill Foods, and Food Source, which together employ approximately 13,400 workers throughout northern California. Only the Raley's and Bel Air names are used in the Yuba-Sutter area. The nearest Food Source store (a warehouse-format discount chain that was started in 1994 in Folsom) is in Rio Linda, and the nearest Nob Hill Foods store (a chain that was founded in 1934 in San Martin and that merged with Raley's in 1998) is in Napa.
