Save Mart Supermarkets is a grocery store food chain that opened its first store in Modesto on January 17, 1952, and is still headquartered there. The company operates stores throughout the Central Valley, San Francisco Bay Area, and northern Nevada under the names of Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky, and FoodMaxx. It also owns SMART Refrigerated Transport, which transports groceries for Save Mart stores and other companies.
