Seventh-day Adventism is the belief system promoted by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church recommends vegetarianism and expects adherence to kosher laws, including abstinence from pork and shellfish. It was a major influence on the acceptance of breakfast cereals into the Western diet.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is officially Young Earth creationist. It does not ordain any women, although the most influential co-founder of the church, Ellen G. White, was a woman. It also does not ordain any people known to be lesbian or gay. It does support some abortion rights. It not only does not perform same-sex marriages, but opposes secular governmental recognition of same-sex marriages performed by other churches.
