  • Family of Wilder Pierce
    • “Wilder Pierce, b. [born] in Westmorland, N. H., Jan. 3, 1788, commenced mercantile business at Stanstead Plain in 1816. In 1817 m. [married] Nancy, dau. [daughter] of Israel Parsons, of Hatfield, Mass. He retired from trade in 1837, and employed the declining years of his life in the cultivation of his farm. He was early appointed magistrate, and was for many years actively employed in public affairs. He and his wife were consistent and exemplary members of the Wesleyan Church. He was among the largest contributors in building the two Wesleyan churches and Stanstead seminary. He d. [died] Sept. 29, 1866. His wife d. Jan. 10, 1853.”
