Founded in May 2001, the MRC was set up by nine fancy rat owners for people in the Midlands who were interested in the rat fancy but not all the travelling that used to go with it.

Today we have over 250 members and regular, well-attended shows where members meet, talk and share a common interest. The club also boasts a magazine, a members' shop, a rat-sitting register, a popular web forum and an outgoing enthusiasm to promote rats as the fantastic pets they are.
