The Percival Guildhouse is an independent centre for adult education, situated in the town centre of Rugby. The house was built in the middle of the 19th century, and was for many years the home of Matthew Bloxam, the Rugby antiquarian. In 1925 the Percival Guild was formed to promote adult education in Rugby. Old boys of Rugby school had purchased the building as a memorial to Bishop Percival, a former headmaster (1887 – 1895) and later Bishop of Hereford until his death in 1917. He was a pioneer of adult education, mainly for the benefit of those who could not read or write.
