French Bar is a bar on the south side of the Yuba River south of Dobbins. It has also been known as Frenchmans Bar or French Corral Bar. Water from French Ravine flows into the river from the north, opposite French Bar.1

The History of Yuba County, California (Chapter XXXI: Foster Bar Township) by Thompson & West, 1879, described French Bar this way:

This bar is on the opposite side of the river, between Rice's Crossing and Condemn bar. It was occupied by about one hundred and fifty men, and received its name from the great number of Frenchmen at work here. Chinamen are now its only occupants.
