Colin Rogers - Visual Artist
Background
-
I taught senior secondary art/design in South Australian schools for far too many years. I now practice as a full time visual artist from my studio at Meadows in the Adelaide Hills.
-
My paintings and drawings cover a range of themes including Portraits, Landscapes and Natural History in a style that sits somewhere between realism, impressionism and illustration.
-
My sculptures, in ceramic or metal, are a little more whimsical, a bit cutting and often humorous. They are certainly more abstruse.
-
I have staged several solo exhibitions including "Recent Antiquities" at the Newland Gallery as part of the 2002 Adelaide Fringe Festival and the "More Recent Antiquities" at the Hahndorf Academy.
-
I continue to participate in group exhibitions at various venues through my association with The Artist's Voice, The Strathalbyn Stationmasters Gallery and "Gallery M" at Marion.
-
I have had works selected for the Waterhouse Prize and the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize.
-
In 2005 I was awarded the "Best Regional Artist" at the Heysen Festival.
-
I have won several Peoples' Choice awards at both Strathalbyn and the Light Square Artists Fair and the "Outstanding Exhibit" at the 2007 Gallery M citizens exhibition.
-
Since 2002 I have secured many private commissions for portrait paintings, landscape paintings and sculptures.
I am a member of The Artist's Voice, an Association of Professional Visual Artists based in the Adelaide Hills.
