Information:

CrossRoads is the sexual assault response and resource center located in Burlington that serves the residents of Alamance County as well as surrounding counties. CrossRoads provides therapy and medical treatment to victims of rape and sexual assault as well as a 24-hour crisis line for those with immediate need of attention. Every year, the agency serves about 450 children and 150 adults. The center also provides community education and childcare. The current executive director of CrossRoads, Deana Joy, a graduate of Elon College in 2000, said, “CrossRoads’ job is to pick up the pieces and help [victims] put them back together.”

CrossRoads began in 1976 as Rape Crisis Alliance of Alamance County and worked primarily with adult rape victims. In 1986, the volunteer group became a United Way agency. The program expanded to include children and increased its community education efforts in 1996 and changed its name to CrossRoads.

CrossRoads works closely with Elon University and provides both services and volunteer opportunities for students.
