Ah, Johns Hopkins University! If there's one thing Baltimoreans love, it's being constantly reminded of how JHU is the best and smartest thing in the entire city.
You'll see it on every bumper sticker, every hoodie, and every smug smile. But we can't deny that it's an important institution, with top-notch medical and engineering programs. And let's not forget, it's where that creepy "The Silence of the Lambs" guy worked (let's just hope they've improved their hiring process since then)
Now, if you're interested in music, then you should definitely check out the Peabody Institute, which is basically the Julliard of Baltimore, minus the elitism and pretentiousness. And if you're a fan of fancy, old-school architecture, then you'll love strolling through the Homewood campus, which has enough red brick and marble columns to make you feel like you're in ancient Rome.
But let's be real, the real reason most people go to Hopkins is to party, and there's no shortage of that around Charles Village. You've got your typical frat parties, sure, but if you're feeling more adventurous, you can always hit up the "Crab and Beer" festival, where you'll find more Old Bay seasoning and Natty Boh than you ever thought possible. Just be warned, if you come to Hopkins expecting to "study hard and party harder", you might end up just "studying hard and napping harder", because this is Baltimore, and nobody can resist the allure of a good nap.
