Classes for Adults

Mt Washington:

  • Baltimore Clayworks in the Mt. Washington neighborhood offers a variety of ceramics classes for both beginner and advanced levels. From wheel throwing to hand-building, you'll have the opportunity to create your own unique pieces of pottery.

  • The Downtown Sailing Association in the Inner Harbor offers sailing classes for adults of all skill levels. They're a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) community sailing center that helps you learn the basics of sailing and how to operate a sailboat in the Chesapeake Bay.

Highlandtown:

  • Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School: Baltimore: In Patterson near Highlandtown, burlesque meets life drawing as an art class with fair pay and respect for the models

  • Baltimore Under Ground Science Space (BUGSS) is a non-profit community laboratory that offers classes, seminars, and lab access  for amateurs, professionals, citizen scientists, activists, and artists who engage in scientific and artistic investigations related to biotechnology. BUGSS provides a space for open dialogue and "learning through doing" as synthetic biology and new biological technologies become more relevant to our everyday lives.

     

Hampden:

  • The Baltimore Chef Shop in Hampden offers a range of classes for adults, from knife skills and baking to international cuisine and healthy cooking. You'll leave with new culinary skills and a full belly.

  • Lovely Yarns in Hampden offers beginner knitting and crochet, jewelry-making, spinning, and weaving, to help you learn new skills with small class sizes (max 6 students) and personalized attention.

  • Mark Supik & Co offers classes as a family-operated business employing ten wood turners and artistic finishers. Woodworking classes have started again after pausing for the pandemic, located in southeast Baltimore City in the Orangeville Industrial neighborhood

Station North:

  • Baltimore Improv Group (BIG - pronounced like "big") in the Charles Street corridor (Station North) offers a variety of theater and comedy classes and workshops for new and continuing performers

  • Station North Tool Library classes available include woodworking, home repair, metalworking, and tool use and safety that are designed to provide affordable access to tools, workspace, and education.
