  • Every Saturday morning, rain or shine, from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon, the Red Stick Farmers Market sets up on Fifth Street at Main Street in downtown Baton Rouge next to the Main Street Market. The Galvez Garage serves as the Red Stick Farmer Market “rainy day” location.
  • On Tuesdays, weather permitting, the Red Stick Farmers Market hosts its Mid Week Market from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Unitarian Church Parking Lot at 8470 Goodwood Boulevard.
  • Watch for our new seasonal Thursday Market on Perkins across from the Baton Rouge Clinic in early Spring!

Farmer's Market Bicycle Rides

The Saturday morning 5th and Main Farmer's Market is quite the destination for bicyclists all over Baton Rouge. Currently there are only two scheduled group rides, but post here if you'd like to start a new one from your neighborhood.

  • Every Saturday morning, meet at 9am at Highland Coffees just north of LSU's campus, meet some new friends, then (some time before 9:30am) meet the pavement as we take a leisurely ride downtown. Routes are decided upon by riders, but if there are a only few folk we take the levee at McKinley, or if we are feeling bolder we take the usual route posted here: SaturdayFarmersMarketBicycleRideHighlandCoffes.bmp.

After shopping and/or smoothies from Our Daily Bread, we often meet back up, sit down on an empty patch of the curb, and start eating Hobo Sandwiches, a term coined by the owner of Mid City Bikes who started the tradition. Participants each buy a different ingredient (like bread, tomatoes, humus, sprouts, or whatever else is in season) and then contribute them to the group so that everyone can enjoy local foods together! Note: bike not necessary for participation.

  • The Baton Rouge Bicycle Club also hosts a Saturday morning ride: the Tour de Coffee which starts at Goodwood Park at 9:00am, is approximately 30 miles, and travels at a speed of 15 - 19 mph.

The Red Stick Farmer's Market takes place year-round on Saturdays from 8 to noon at 5th and Main in downtown Baton Rouge. It's a fairly sizable market with in-season vegetables, cheese, meat, grains, and other locally grown food in addition to plants and locally made baked or canned goods. The market is run by the BREADA, the Big River Economic & Agricultural Development Alliance. The site is adjacent to the Main Street Market, an indoor alleyway with arts, crafts, and food booths.
