Department Stores |
Our Department Stores page 1 includes information about Buffalo's traditional department stores as well as Big Box Retail that are mostly stand-alone stores, located in shopping plazas and are known by their branded identities. Most of these retail establishments are national or regional chains, so we list the "locals" separately. The term department store came from the development of retail stores that extended beyond one category of merchandise and divided into departments for specific categories of merchandise. See the Retailing Information page for more information on store classifications, history, and external sources and links. |
