Nu Alpha Kappa is a Latino-based fraternity which encompasses and values all cultures. Our membership has grown from 11 men at our founding chapter in Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Since our founding, we have grown to twenty two chapters across California, Nevada, and Colorado. 'We, NU ALPHA KAPPA, seek to unite and involve all students in a more harmonious and brotherly atmosphere through academic, social, and cultural means. There is a need to interface the various backgrounds that constitute the student body of our fraternal university chapters, in order to improve relations amongst all students and community."
Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc. honors its traditions, which are designed to achieve our three goals: Academic Excellence and academic support among the brotherhood; retention of our Culture through campus and community service; and strengthening and maintaining the bond of brotherhood among one another. Our philosophy is best summarized by our motto...
"Men of Mind, Men of Culture, Men of Pride...
In the fall of 1994 a group of dedicated young men joined together to form "Hermanos De La Comunidad," an interest group that was seeking fraternity status. Their main goal was to bring Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity to the CSU, Chico campus. Their choice in NAK was made after nearly a years time of careful consideration. Their opportunity to pledge came on February 4, 1995 at the Beta Chapter in San Diego during NAKfest '95. After several months of a dedicated but strenuous pledgeship, the Theta Chapter of Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity was established at California State University, Chico on September 9, 1995.
