The Key Bank Building is a 253 ft (77 m) tall skyscraper on Capitol Square in downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was completed in 1963 and has 20 floors. It is the 25th tallest building in Columbus and has 265,000 sq ft (24,600 m2) of floor space.

History

The William G. Deshler houseDeshler house

The site once held the William G. Deshler mansion, built in 1850. The house stood for 75 years; 55 by Mrs. W. G. Deshler, who moved there as a bride. The building was put on the market in April 1925[4] and was torn down beginning May 11, 1925 by a contractor, who planned to use some of the timber and woodwork for his new home at 224 Woodruff Avenue. The property was put up for sale or lease at that time.[1] At the time of its sale, it was the only building still occupied as a residence in the downtown business section of Broad Street. Mrs. Deshler moved to 186 Stanbery Avenue in Bexley after the sale.[2] In late 1925, the neighboring First Congregational Church announced plans to construct an addition on the site of the old Deshler home; the site was by then used as a parking lot.[3]
