Vestamager is the last stop on the Metro line M1. Vestamager is the southernmost stop on the M1 line, and is on the western edge of the island Amager. Amager is also referred to as "trash island" because of its previous use as a waste storage site for Copenhagen.

Neighborhood

Vestamager is situtated in/near the neighborhood of Ørestad. This area is being developed and is currently rather empty besides a few brand new residences. Many buildings are in construction but it will take a few years for the area to develop into a more populated neighborhood. There is a Plug n Play a brief walk from the Vestamager stop where you can play handball, football, and other outdoor sports for free in a grassy area.

The existing buildings to the west of the Vestamager stop are residences of various purposes and also a parking garage. Residents near the Vestamager stop currently commute into the city or just one stop up the metro line to the Ørestad stop to Fields, the largest mall in Scandanavia.

Metro

The Vestamager area of the metro is experiencing some delays and will continue to through the summer of 2015. Construction at some of the southern M1 stops has led to less frequent trains, with the bus replacing the trains on some weekends.

The  Ørestad stop is just one station north of Vestamager and has a connecting train to the Copenhagen Airport. The Copenhagen public transit system uses the same ticketing system for buses, trains, and the metro. Ticketing charges are based on the number of zones traveled to, from, and through. The zone system is even difficult for locals to understand because there are so many zones. Most of the city centre of Copenhagen lies in Zones 1 and 2; Vestamager is in Zone 2. The airport is in Zone 3, however, and is located at the southernmost end of the M2 Metro line.
