About Ohlone College Newark Center

Being the first "green" community college in the U.S., the Ohlone College Newark Center for Health Sciences and Technology was opened in January 2008. The campus has a number of eco-friendly features, including "photovoltaic solar panels." 

There is a substantial selection of programs and courses offered, including programs that integrate the environment and sustainability, such as Environmental Studies.

There are also "collaborative learning projects," in which students get hands-on experience with things related to the environment. These lab project are implemented in the Environmental Biology, Geography, GIS, and Environmental Studies programs.
