Calvin University is a liberal arts university operated by the Christian Reformed Church.

January Series

During January, Calvin University hosts guest speakers to both "entertain and educate". The event is called the January Series

School Year:

Calvin University's school year is broken out into two semesters, with a one month interim in between. During interim, most students take one class only, and are encouraged to take classes outside of their field of study.

Controversy:

On the Calvin University property is the West Michigan Research Lab (WMRL). The WMRL is a facility that is operated in a partnership between Spectrum Health and Calvin University. The facility is AAALAC accredited for the humane treatment of animals.

Calvin also cut the Art History, Theater, Greek, Latin, and various faculty from the Art, Music, and History departments in 2015. These acts of triage are in response to an ongoing financial crisis.
