The "Norfolk Sound" refers to a loosely associated movement in the late 1950s and 1960s that consisted of a set of musicians and producers from the Hampton Roads area that produced records containing what many listeners considered to be a specific style of recordings that sound as if they had been recorded in a "live party atmosphere".  The artists, acts and business people most famously associated with these are Frank Guida, Gary U.S. Bonds, Tommy Facenda, The Church Street Five, Jimmy Soul and The Sheiks. Many of the records were produced in Frank Guida's studio at 408 W. Princess Anne Road (see map) in Norfolk between 1959 and 1969.
