The Allendale Theater was a vaudeville and later movie theater from c.1913 to c.1943. It was later converted into the Theater Apartments.
The Allendale was originally at 2816 - 38th Avenue; the first mention in the Tribune is from 1913. 1 A new, larger theater was built at 3116-3122 Liese at 38th Avenue.

The architect for the new theater was William I. Garren of San Francisco, working for the Blumenthal Theatre Circuit. The old theater became the East Oakland Gospel Alliance Tabernacle. 2 Oddly, the 1930 directory still gives the 2816 - 38th Avenue.

It's unknown when it stopped being a movie theater, but ads in 1942 and early 1943 are for Biblical lectures with titles like "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" with lecturer Alden O. Sage, and free seating. 4Theatres of Oakland says it was converted to housing in 1943 during WWII. 3
