SFSU's College of Ethnic Studies was established in 1969 in response to a student strike demanding curricula addressing the unique experiences of American Indians, Asian Americans, Blacks, and Latina/Latinos in the United States and intersectional analysis amongst the different communities. The College of Ethnic Studies offers B.A.s in Race, Ethnicity, and Health, as well as Race and Resistance Studies. Minors are also offered in AMED studies, Queer Ethnic Studies, Critical Mixed-Race Studies and Critical Pacific Islands and Oceania Studies.  SFSU promotes the Race, Empowerment and Justice Project to support faculty development in the College of Ethnic Studies in teaching, researching and creating projects.
