The McKenna Theatre is a 700-seat theatre located within the Creative Arts building in the southern portion of the SF State campus. The school utilizes this facility primarily as a large lecture hall during academic semesters, as well as for large events such as convocation, orientation events, and the beginning-of-the-year “gator-fest” for returning students. The McKenna Theatre is equipped with an orchestra pit, single purchase counterweight fly system, a 50 foot proscenium opening, trapped stage floor, and film and video projection capabilities.  The theatre was named in 1972 for J. Fenton McKenna, a former department chair and dean at SF State.
