Good Friday Way of the Cross Procession

In the old city of Jerusalem, the Via Dolorosa is held to be the path that Jesus, son of Mary (peace be upon them), walked as he made his way to the crucifixion.

Nine of the 14 Stations of the Cross (or Way of the Cross; in Latin, Via Crucis; also called the Via Dolorosa or Way of Sorrows, or simply, The Way) are on the route, with the Church of the Holy Sepulchre containing the final five.

The Little Italy event recreates this series of events.

2009 marked the 47th year this event has been held..

It draws thousands of spectators each year, and begins at 3 p.m. in front of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church at 72 Mansfield Avenue , which is two blocks south of College Street on Grace Street.
