Location/Hours

The park address is 7290 E. Tanque Verde Rd. Tucson, Az 85715, located on the southeast corner of Tanque Verde Rd. and Sabino Canyon Rd.

The main park hours are from 6am-10:30pm everyday

The recreation center has hours of:

Monday-Friday: 6am-8pm

Saturday: 8am-4pm

Sunday: 10am-4pm

History

The Park was opened on September 11th, 1982 by a democratic congressman named Morris K. Udall, which is who the park is named after. Before being a park, the site was home to a geological survey magnetic Observatory since the early 1900's ran by the United States Cost Guard. There have been a few remodels and additions over the years with the largest and most recent one being in 2011 which showed a plan for adding more entrances to the park, more baseball and softball fields, a multipurpose field, relocation and expanded dog park, skate park, and a few other minor remodels. This plan has not yet been completed but a few things on this list have been done (2022) like adding in more ramadas and the addition of pickle ball courts.

Amenities/Sports

The park contains numerous outdoor and indoor activities which include; baseball and softball fields, soccer fields, sand volleyball courts, a dog park, playgrounds, a gym with basketball courts, a pool, an outdoor amphitheater, and more. More tucked away in the back of the park, there are pickle ball courts and tracks to either run or walk. There are countless areas around the park for picnics with BBQ grills, ramadas, benches, and open grass lots. The park also has outdoor workout stations with an indoor workout area as well. Everything within the park is easily accessible to anyone and the only things within the park that have a fee are any of the sports or activities hosted inside the recreation center

Events

The park hosts many different sporting events and leagues. Sabino Canyon Little League runs baseball and softball teams during the spring. The park also hosts soccer teams for both leagues and tournaments during the fall and winter. The recreational center at the park hosts many different event during the year like movies for kids, dancing for adults, workout classes, swimming lessons, and many more. All of the ramadas and seating areas within the park can be reserved for birthdays or special events. During the week, there are events for seniors at the Carol West Senior addition taking place from 9am-4pm and they are close for the weekends.
