Robert Angus Bell was born June 6, 1893 at Port Anson, Spence Twp. to Isaac Bell Jr. and Sarah Nelson. At the time of the 1911 census, Angus continued to live with his parents and siblings on the family farm.

Angus enlisted on May 13, 1918 at Toronto. His next of kin at the time of enlistment was identified as his mother Sarah Bell

 Due to his late enlistment, Angus remained in Canada and did not see action.

He was discharged January 19, 1919

Angus returned to Spence Twp. following his service and on October 19, 1921 married Mary Eliza ‘Minnie’ Brown in Spence Township. They had one child.
