BLEZARD, CAPT. JOHN
John Albert Blezard was born May 17, 1888 in Warkworth, Ontario
At the time of the 1891 and 1901 censuses John was identified as living with his parents in Northumberland East.
By 1911 John had moved to Magnetawan where he was identified as a lodger and a salesman at a general store.
John enlisted and in his ‘Officer’s Declaration Paper’ signed November 9, 1916 he identified his next of kin as his mother Elizabeth Blezard of Warkworth, Ontario.
In those papers he also identified that he was part of an active militia the C.A.M.C. and that his profession was that of a Physician.
In his certificate of service, John was identified as having enlisted in the Canadian Army Medical Corps in October 16, 1916 and that he served in England and France in the Medical Corps.
He was discharged February 10, 1920.
On June 17, 1917 John arrived in England from Canada was posted to the C.A.M.C. Depot. (Canadian Army Medical Corp)
There followed a number of hospitalizations.
In October of 1918 he was posted to France.
In February of 1919 he was again hospitalized.
He was invalided to Canada on July 28, 1919

John was discharged on October 31, 1919.
On December 17, 1919 John married Mary Ethel Gertrude Wilder in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mary died in 1936. On August 18, 1941 John married Margaret Barr Russell. John had two children by his first marriage.
John died November 13, 1971 in London, Ontario.
