According to Jack Crossman as in WWI and was Injured going over the top

William John ‘Jack’ Botham was born February 14, 1895 in Oranmore, Spence Twp., the son of John Thomas and Margaret Frances (Black) Botham.

At the time of the 1901 and 1911 censuses, Jack continued to live with his parents in Spence Twp.

At the time of his enlistment on February 4, 1918 Jack identified that he lived in Spence Twp.

At the time of the 1921 census, Jack was again living in Oranmore with his parents and, as with the previous censuses, was identified as a farmer.

Jack died in 1977 and is buried in Spence Twp.

 

 

In his Discharge Certificate, dated April 1, 1919 Jack was identified as having served in the 1st Depot, 2nd COR

Jack received a shrapnel wound:

Jack sailed to England from Canada on February 21, 1918 and arrived in England on March 4, 1918.

On August 20, 1918 he landed in France.

 

 On October 4, 1918 he was ‘invalided’

 

On October 11, 1918 he was admitted to the hospital in Etaples with a gun shot wound to his right arm
