FULLER, WAYNE

Wayne  served with the Canadian Guards out of Pembroke, which is where he took his basic training. He spent 6 months at Pembroke and then deployed to Germany where he spent three years serving from 1958 to1961. While in Germany he was stationed in the Rhine Valley.

The Canadian Guards (officially known as the Regiment of Canadian Guards) was formed on 16 October 1953 with the redesignation of four separate battalions: 3rd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment – 1st Battalion; 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry  – 2nd Battalion; 1st Canadian Infantry Battalion – 3rd Battalion; and the 2nd Canadian Infantry Battalion – 4th Battalion.  In October 1957, the 1st Battalion received its first stand of colours, while the 2nd Battalion was deployed to Germany. In 1959, the 1st Battalion replaced the 2nd Battalion, with the 2nd Battalion receiving its colours in 1960.
