Alfred Edwin Good was born March 29, 1894 in South River to Israel Good and Charlotte Teresia Floretta Greenwood. At the time of the 1901 census, the Good family was identified as living in Chapman Township. Israel Good was identified as a farmer.
At the time of the 1911 census the family remained in Chapman Township. Israel Good was described as a mill owner. Alfred ‘Edward’ Good was identified as a farmer.
At the time of the 1921 census, Edwin Good, now married was identified as living in Sundridge with his wife Edna.
In his Attestation papers signed January 21, 1917 Edwin identified that he was presently living in Parry Sound and that his next of kin was his mother Charlotte was residing at Pearcley. He identified himself as a motorman.
In his Discharge Certificate, Alfred enlisted in Toronto in the 256th Railway Construction Battalion on January 29, 1917.
He served in France and Belgium.
He arrived in England April 7, 1917 on the S.S.Missanabie.
He landed in France on July 4, 1917 as part of the CRT (Canadian Railway Troops - men recruited and organized to operate railways in rear areas).
In 1919 he was posted to the CRT Pool.
