George Grisdale was one of the many soldiers that the students of Mr. Godfrey Grunig’s class at Magnetwawan wrote to during WWII.

George Gisdale was identified in the 1935 Voters List as living in Magnetawan, a labourer.

At the time of the 1965 and 1968 Voters Lists, George and his wife were identified as living at Moon Rive. George was identified as a Guide. They were still in the Moon Bay area n the 1997-2002 period (phone directories)

In his response to the students of Mr. Grunig’s class, George identified that he was in the 9th Canadian Field Park Coy.

In his letter written November 15, 1944 George identifies that where he was now stationed was quite “ a contrast to Sicily and Northern Italy. He further notes that things must have changed quite a bit in Magnetawan since he was there 3 years ago.

George wrote a second letter on May 11, 1945. He was in Holland at the time of writing.

A third letter was written by George on June 10, 1945 after the war was over. At time of writing he was near Amsterdam in Holland.
